Our Guide to Paint Colors, Featuring Katie’s Top 5 Neutrals

Hands down, the most common question that we receive is “What paint color is that?”

Be it bedroom, powder bath cabinets, kitchen colors, playroom furniture… the list goes on and on, the main thing the people are dying to know is what the paint color is. What most people don’t realize is that depending on the amount of light, the other colors in the room, the product being painted (wood vs. furniture) and even the time of day, paint colors can come off very different. To achieve the look that we’re after, sometimes we reduce the strength to 50% or 75% - in non-technical terms, that means we have our paint vendors add a little bit more white to the paint color to soften the look a little bit. And yes, in case you forgot, we consider shades of blues neutrals around here!

Our biggest tip when it comes to paint colors : Pick three to five samples and paint a small section in the space that you’re painting. Look at it during multiple different times during the day and THEN finalize your decision.

We’re going to help you out a little bit and share some of our favorite paint colors with you all, in some of the spaces we’ve used them. Eventually, we’ll break it down by space, but for today we’re going to start with some of our favorite, most used colors.
