Teakwood Entry : Small Space, Large Entry

Conventional knowledge states that small rooms should get a white coat of paint to feel more spacious. In the teensy entry of our Teakwood project, we decided to shake up the norms. We painted the walls and ceilings an olive green lacquer. Though obviously not white, the allover tone in a glossy application actually gave the space more dimension, making the entry feel even larger. We added architectural detailing on the ceiling to bring your eyes up and make the space feel less closed-in. Adding black and white marble tile gave interest to the floor and further blurs the compact boundaries of this space. In addition, the bold walls and even bolder flooring give this entry a punch of glam that sets the tone for the rest of the home.

For finishing touches, we added a framed panel by Gracie Studio, flanked by sculptural Julie Neill sconces, and a semi-flush mount gilded iron ceiling fixture above. The chest was actually a family heirloom piece and was the perfect base for unique finishing accessories. On the vintage chest, there are two architectural table lamps with brass shades; and above is a funky white framed mirror. Talk about making an entrance!
